Wash Your PWC
Dirt and debris will collect on your PWC over time, whether you use it frequently or not. That grimy buildup can corrode the surfaces of your PWC, so cleaning is an important maintenance step that should not be overlooked.
If you notice visible dirt on your PWC, give it a thorough wash. Your owner’s manual should specify which cleaning products are compatible with your PWC. As a general rule, you should stick with mild cleansers and a soft-bristle brush, and wipe everything down with a microfiber cloth. Finish it off with an application of wax to guard that healthy sheen.

Flush the Engine
After riding your PWC in saltwater, make sure to flush the engine with fresh water before you ride again. This will prevent salt and other contaminants from damaging the motor.

Fuel Up
Make sure to check all the fluids in your PWC before you hit the water, and top off the gas tank as needed. If your PWC has been in storage for the winter, you will need to drain the old fuel and replace it.
Keep in mind that marine engines require high-quality fuel with a low percentage of ethanol, and two-stroke engines need a mixture of oil and gasoline. Your owner’s manual should specify the optimal fuel type for your PWC.

Stick to a Maintenance Schedule
Just like any vehicle, your PWC needs regular upkeep to stay in good working order. This includes replacing the oil, changing the filters, draining the pump oil, and lubricating the bearings and fittings. The battery in your PWC should also be checked and replaced as needed. Last but not least, inspect your PWC frequently for signs of damage, and head to a service shop if anything needs repair.
